舉個電視影集的例子，
孕婦在產檢時向婦產科醫生說，自己已經生了六個小孩，
雖然喜歡小孩，可是實在太多了，她累得受不了。
但是先生是虔誠的天主教徒，不贊成避孕，更不可能同意墮胎。
她因為過勞，正懷著的胎兒出狀況，因為醫學理由要拿掉，
她偷偷和醫生說希望可以不留紀錄地在引產時結紮。
此時醫生面對的就是ethic of care vs. ethic of justice。
按照ethic of justice，偷偷進行手術是不道德的；
按照ethic of care，醫生的天職是解除痛苦，看著孕婦受煎熬是不道德的。
