這首歌是我跟男友分離的前幾天被我發現的...想想也快一個月了每次聽著聽著，跟著歌詞唱，聲音都會扭曲掉...眼淚也禁不住的滑落。先說說背後的故事吧。這首歌是由主唱Tom Higgenson寫的，歌詞是在說遠距離戀愛的故事。女朋友到了大城市念書，而自己留在這邊為夢想打拼。這首歌裡面提到的 Delilah 其實真有其人，是個畢業於哥倫比亞大學、且是明年奧運的障礙賽參賽者 Delilah DiCrescenzo。她跟 Plain White T’s 的主唱(也是這首歌的創作者)Tom Higgenson 其實並沒有戀愛，是在經由他們共同的朋友介紹彼此認識之後，Tom 突然就有了這個靈感，想為她寫一首歌。他說 Delilah DiCrescenzo 是他見過最美的女人，有點可笑有點悲傷，因為這首歌講的深情，其實並不是真的。以下是他受訪所說的： “There was never anything between us. It was kind of funny — kind of sad, actually. The story of my life… I thought she was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. I told her, ‘I have a song about you already.’ Obviously, there was no song. But I thought it was smooth.” Delilah DiCrescenzo並沒有因為這首歌愛上Tom，她其實已經有男朋友了，所以因為這首歌，也帶給她一些困擾。以下是她的回應： “It was so beautifully written”, she says. “There was pressure to live up to this ideal.
