You may not have high expectations for someone who has offered to help you out with a challenge you are facing, but you are encouraged to accept the assistance anyway. If your perception is based on a past experience with this person, things might have changed by now. If you are just assuming that things won't go as well as hoped based on outward appearances, you could be wrong.
